I know that you too find great delight in these words of King David, “O taste and see that the LORD is good; How blessed is the man who takes refuge in Him!”  Ps 34:8. Our hearts just swell with such joy when we think of this attribute of our Father.  Yet, could a greater measure of God’s goodness be released into our lives and circumstances?

When God’s goodness overflows in and through us, it naturally affects others. It also affects environments and outcomes. How incredible to think that we have the privilege and opportunity to co-labour with The Almighty to release, not just His goodness into our own lives, but into our families, our businesses and into all whom we meet. Now that’s goodness our LORD’s way! Always intended not just for us to horde and hold onto…  but to have such an abundance of His goodness, blessings, and favour, that it just streams out of us to others.

In my journey with The Holy Spirit, He keeps revealing to me just how much we block God’s goodness, His blessings, and His favour. We worship, pray, attend church, and yet we often still prevent God from being fully operational in our lives. How is this possible?

Let’s journey together for a few minutes and explore just two possible situations where we could easily be preventing a real, full release of heaven into our lives and businesses in untold measure.

Take a look at Psalms 34:8 quoted above and look at the second part of that verse “… How blessed is the man who takes refuge in Him!” and compare this to Nahum 1:7 “The LORD is good, A stronghold in the day of trouble, And He knows those who take refuge in Him!” It seems that our taking refuge in Him, releases His goodness and protection!

Suddenly I understood, (thank you Holy Spirit), how all the years of seeking refuge in my family, friendships, skills, natural talents, finances, life and business wisdom found in books, and more… I was actually blocking much, if not all, of God’s goodness in my life! Without even realizing what I was doing, I was facing life looking everywhere else but to Him.

Oh Father, will you show us where we are seeking refuge other than you? Will you show us where, or in whom, we may be placing our trust, instead of You?

Let’s explore further. “For the LORD God is a sun and shield; The LORD gives grace and glory; No good thing does He withhold from those who walk uprightly.” Psalms 84:11 Don’t you just become so excited when you look at a single verse, and start to notice the gems behind every single word?

Notice how God says “no good thing” which means there’s NOTHING good that He will withhold from you. That’s a major promise from The Almighty! I doubt we ever be able to imagine the magnitude and depth this sentence holds.

Did you notice the condition though? What’s required from us to release this massive, unlimited, continuous flow of His goodness, blessings and favour? The condition is, “… for those who walk uprightly.”

I remember looking at these words and thinking, “That’s not even possible Lord!” In that moment I could relate to the disciples who responded to Jesus in this way: “When the disciples heard this, they were greatly astonished and asked, “Who then can be saved?” Jesus looked intently at them and said “With man this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.” Matthew 19:25,26.

Oh, what a great and good, good Father we have. Never asking the impossible from us, and always providing a way for us, when we earnestly seek Him!

I just love the reason for God’s goodness towards us. “You surely don’t think much of God’s wonderful goodness or of his patience and willingness to put up with you. Don’t you know that the reason God is good to you is because he wants you to turn to him? Romans 2:4 CEV.

As we encounter and experience The Almighty for ourselves, He opens His heart to us, and we are filled with such delight and wonder at how good and beautiful He is. We learn to love Him. We love the Giver of all good things, not for what He gives us, but because we love Him dearly for who He is.

May these words be a delight to you, and I pray that you will accept His invitation wholeheartedly. “O taste and see that the LORD is good; How blessed is the man who takes refuge in Him!”  Ps 34:8.
