Do you long to hear God’s voice more clearly? To move from that frustrating place where you just don’t know if you really heard from the Lord, or perhaps it was simply your own imagination?
I know the feeling. I went through a really difficult season of such confusion and lack of clarity. It was so frustrating. I did not want to move without Him. In the past, when I received ideas and insights, I would just run with them. Knowing this about myself, and not knowing if what I heard was from God or not, created space for a fear to develop within me. I really did not want to revert to my old ways, and so I did nothing. That was exactly what the enemy was after, to keep me in doubt and confusion, and never moving forward. Just like in the Garden of Eden, today still he likes to ask the same question of us, “Did God really say…” Genesis 3:1. This causes us to doubt if we have heard from God. These fears and doubts always keeps us stuck, and we don’t move forward on God’s Word as we should.
Despite this tough and frustrating season, this also became a great training school. Looking back, I am so grateful for that “struck” period. That season made me seek the Lord’s face more than ever before. I craved (and still do), a deeper intimacy with Him. I wanted so badly to hear from Him, to know that it was really Him, before leaping into action. I knew and understood that each of us have a totally unique relationship with the Lord, and how we hear from Him, is also going to be different and unique.
So, what changed? I started to pray intentionally to hear His voice, and also for greater faith and belief in every Word uttered. I made up my mind, if our Lord said something, then it was so! When we pray intentionally to hear His voice, so that we may follow Him, He will always respond to such prayers, as they are in full alignment with His Will.
I would also read and camp on scriptures like, “My sheep hear My voice, and I know them, and they follow Me” John 10:27. When doubts wanted to creep back in, I would re- align my thoughts to that of, He was indeed speaking to me, and that I would hear Him, and hear Him clearly. I started to daily declare His words over my life. Reading these decrees aloud, word for word, from the Holy Bible.
As I prayed for revelation, Holy Spirit helped me understand how we are to partner with God in all these desires, by working with Him and not against Him.
What we think about, and what we focus on, play a far bigger role in whether God can move in our lives or not!
(More about this in my upcoming online workshop in May).
During this time of seeking, I asked the Lord to guide me to other materials that would assist me in my journey of discovering the unique way that God is speaking to me personally. I came across Lana Vawser, and her book, The Prophetic Voice of God. It was just so wonderful. Through reading about Lana’s journey, so much clarity fell upon that of my own, and her story is a great encouragement to me, as I seek for even more of the Lord.
I do recommend you read her book it’s a super resource. Lana’s website can be found here.
If you wish to go even deeper, then I also recommend her brand new e-course. I loved it. (Check her website for info on this). When you make use of this resource, do come back to this post, and pop some comments below. I’d love to hear from you.
To end off today’s share, I’d like to leave you with this. Nothing beats rug-time with The Almighty. When we humble ourselves before Him, and seek Him with all our hearts, minds and souls, He will answer. Intimacy and relationship with The Almighty are everything!
We have also been given the greatest gift of all times, the Holy Spirit. Our teacher, counsellor and wonderful friend. Trust in Him, He will answer and lead you in your own unique way to hearing even more clearly from your Father.
My prayer is that you seek and maintain a deep intimacy with the Lord. To have Him answer and guide us personally, is a beautiful, precious, unique and much-prized gift. To be treasured above all else. I pray that you will grow in His Grace, clearly hear His voice and guidance for your life and Kingdom Assignments. For there is much to be done, and God is on the move.
