Did you know that we are Called to serve in five different areas by God? That we are Called into much more than just our vocation? Understanding the five areas of Calling, will liberate you, and give you the most amazing life balance too. How so?
Let’s look at what these five areas of Calling are. I’m positive that by the end of this read you will be delighted at just how amazing God’s plan of balance is.
We are Called into Relationship with God
“First and foremost, we are Called to Someone (God), not to something (such as motherhood, politics, teaching), or to somewhere (such as the inner city, or outward Mongolia) and then only are we called to somewhere.” – Os Guinness
We are each Called into a rich, full, everlasting, relationship with God.
Isn’t that amazing?
Being Called by The Almighty into a personal and intimate relationship continues to undo me. I love that it will take forever to get to know Him, to learn all the secrets of His heart, His plans and desires.
This is why Intimacy with our Lord is everything!
There is nothing greater, more important, or more fulfilling than a daily, moment by moment, relationship and walk with the creator of all things.
Such a personal relationship with Him, brings with it an experience of Him. As real. As near to you as the breath within you. Without this experience, we merely have a head full of ideas, with an untouched heart, unmoved by the wonder and awe of who He really is.“Seek the LORD and his strength; seek his presence continually!”
“Seek the LORD and his strength; seek his presence continually!”
I Chronicles 16:11 ESV
Intimacy with Him is our greatest privilege, to be treasured and sought after like fine treasure. Our relationship with Him should be so real that we would give our lives for it. Not mere words, but a deep-down conviction.
We are then Called into Family
Our Father is a relational Father. He gave each of us a family, and it has always been His desire for our family unit to look, and operate, the way He designed it to be. A place of warmth, love, safety, and immense joy.
Yet, that may not be your experience. Perhaps your family was, or is, anything but that. Perhaps your family represents the exact opposite of what God intended. There is still so much comfort to be had though.
Perhaps you are the one, to represent your family at God’s throne and to seek His mercy and grace for your family? To seek restoration, in miraculous, un-imagined ways, that only He can bring about. Our Father is fully capable of answering your prayer for restoration in your family.
Remember: There is nothing, seen or unseen, that can stop a prayer being answered that is said in faith, and is in alignment with the will of God. Nothing!
We each have a unique Kingdom Assignment within our families. It is wonderful when Holy Spirit reveals to you, your purpose, your role, your assignment within your family.

What specifically are you designed to bring into your family?
“But from everlasting to everlasting the LORD’s love is with those who fear him, and his righteousness with their children’s children.”
Psalm 103:17 NIV
We are called into Church, “Ecclesias”
You may love God very much, yet the thought of attending
Church may be filling you with some anxiety.
I know it did for me.
I wanted to go to a place where I could just Worship and express my gratitude and thankfulness to The Almighty.
But what stopped me was my previous experiences with Religion.
Only when I understood that there is a very big different between Religion and worshipping God as He was intended to be worshipped, was I able to relax and have Holy Spirit guide me to the right place.
It’s interesting that even Jesus, King of
Kings, and Lord or Lords, had a major problem with the legalistic religion that
was present when He walked our earth!
Its sad to see that there are still so many religions, that teach, speak, act
and behave just like the religions of Jesus day.
So, if you are hesitant to attend “church” again, why not take it to God in
prayer?
So many of us choose a place to go in our own wisdom, instead of seeking God’s direction. He will show you where you belong.
What more, when He does; He will also reveal to you, in time, your Kingdom Assignment there. You have unique natural talents and abilities that were given in order that you may make a difference in others’ lives.
Ask Him where, and what your unique role is, and when, He would like you to step into it?
AND what’s more, as you settle into your assignment, then joy of joy, supernatural gifts will be given to you.
Let’s do all we can to be led by Holy Spirit in all these matters, and when the time is right, walk fully into our Kingdom Assignment in the Calling area of Church, “Ecclesias”.
PS: What does the word Church actually mean? It might surprise you to learn this. The original Greek word used is “Ecclesias” and not “kuriakos”. (church).
“Ecclesias” actually means a community of people, under the guidance of God’s anointed and appointed leaders, called out and separated from the world, with none other than Jesus, Christ as their ruler and King.
We are called to Community
How beautiful is this? There is a place in community just for you.
There is so much need in our world, and we were created to serve in one of these areas too.
Like with all the other Calling areas above, nothing beats asking God to show you where you belong? What He designed for you to do, and to what extent?
We will know exactly how we are to contribute to making the world a better place; and it will be a perfect fit. We will be happy.

AND what’s more …
Under his guidance we will never over-extend ourselves, we will always remain in good, healthy and perfect balance.
When we follow His lead, we will always be in the right place. Our service will be such a joy and blessing.
Constantly asking, following and obeying, always leads to healthier and happier results. For we serve a good, good Father!
“Keep on asking, and you will receive what you ask for. Keep on seeking, and you will find. Keep on knocking, and the door will be opened to you.”
Matthew 7:7 NLT
We are called to Work
Understanding your unique Kingdom Assignment when it comes to work will bring you immense joy.
Following His lead and timing every step of the way in one’s work will ensure we blossom and bear fruit.
We will be doing work that we love. Work that we are gifted at, which comes naturally and easily to us. Work that leaves us fulfilled. Work done with Grace and Not Grind as my friend Shae Bynes keeps reminding us.
Stress leaves as you rest in Him.
You know your place, and you know what you are uniquely called to do. You find your focus. You start to grow and develop in your art, and able to deliver true excellence.

As you lean in and trust Him fully. Wait upon Him. There will be no pressure, stress, and over-working. All of which can so easily take place in this area of our lives.
You will also develop balance as you realize that we are Called, and have unique Kingdom Assignments in all areas. Relationship, Family, Church, Community and Work.
Instead of having your work overshadow everything in your life, you will find your balance.
Is this an easy road? Not always. Do you need to lean heavily on the Holy Spirit? Yes! For it will not be by our own power that our Kingdom Assignments will be achieved.
‘Not by might nor by power, but by my Spirit,’ says the LORD Almighty.
Zechariah 4:16 NIV
Personal experience has taught me that following Gods lead and waiting upon Him, is still much easier that an unbalance, over-worked life, filled with lack of focus. Going around in endless circles, wondering what the purpose of your life really is. Never making any real headway, and ending each day exhausted, stressed-out, and unhappy.
The words of Jesus are true for every area of our lives.
“Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.”
Matthew 11:29 NIV
In summary, we are called to five key areas by God:
- Relationship and Intimacy with Him
- Family
- Church
- Community and finally, and only then, into
- Work
Understanding the above, and Gods order of priorities helps us align our priorities with His. Holy Spirit will reveal to us, our unique Kingdom Assignment within each area.
This knowledge will set us free, allow us to be focused, well rounded, balanced, and experience the Lords Joy in all things.
“I have told you these things so that you will be filled with my joy. Yes, your joy will overflow!”
John 15:11 NLT
